NOTE: Although many suits can be washed in similar ways, unless you have a HyenaHoy fursuit, consult your maker beforehand.
Cleaning the head: Be aware of any electronics such as LEDs and fans. Most fans can be removed, if removable, take them out. If yours is integrated consult me before attempting this method. These deep cleaning methods are recommended after a convention or heavy use. Spot cleaning after a light use can be made with 50/50 alcohol water mix. Douse the inside avoiding electronics and eyes. Scrub interior as well as exterior then let air dry for several hours.
FOR HEADS WITH NO LEDS: Get a shallow bowl or small storage bin and fill with warm/hot water and detergent. Soak back of head avoiding eyes as much as possible, gently squeeze and soak the sides. Use a soapy rag to gently scrub the exterior and interior.
Rinse out the detergent in cold water, doing this in a sink with a sink hose helps. Gently squeeze ears, cheeks, and other densely foamed areas to wring out water. Try to get as much water out as possible. (Last time i deep cleaned my personal suit i used a spin cycle on my washing machine. I placed the head though the agitator and had it stick out the mouth. ) If your washer does not have an agitator i recommend making sure it doesnt bang around on the spin cycle by adding towels or some kind of buffer.
Once the majority of water has been removed place on a fan blowing into the head checking now and again to make sure there is no dampness. Its imperative the head is completely dry.
FOR HEADS WITH LEDS: Do not hesitate to contact me, most LEDS are integrated into the foam work so i will need to address cleaning on a case by case basis.
Cleaning the body: DIGITIGRADE/PLANTIGRADE - Fill a tub with warm soapy water, most detergents or dish soap works fine. Scrub or rub the suit together gently to remove dirt and let soak for 5 to 10 minutes before draining tub. Squeeze out as much water as you can before then refilling the tub with a cold water rinse. Drain tub again and wring out as much water as you can. Place suit into a washing machine and spin out as much excess water as possible before hanging and letting air dry. Brush out when dry.
Cleaning tails, paws, and feet: Most can be put into a washing machine, for large feet that wont fit in a washer, clean like the bodysuit section above. *Most feet paws are better cleaned with 50/50 alcohol water spray especially if they have painted claws*
